Automatic Driving Lessons in Preston, Simpler, Calmer, Easier to Learn
Not everyone wants to wrestle with a clutch and gears while learning to drive. Our automatic driving lessons let you focus on the road, your observations and your confidence, without the added pressure of a manual gearbox.
Why More Learners Are Choosing to Learn in an Automatic
The way people learn to drive is changing. More learners across Preston are choosing automatic vehicles, and it is easy to understand why. Without a clutch pedal or a gear lever to manage, you can give your full attention to what actually matters: reading the road, making safe decisions and building genuine driving confidence.
Automatic cars are also a practical choice for drivers with certain physical conditions, older learners who find manual coordination more demanding, or anyone who simply wants to reduce the stress that comes with early lessons.
At Alwari Driving School, our automatic driving lessons in Preston follow the same patient, structured approach used across all our courses. You will learn everything you need to pass your practical test and drive safely for life, just without the manual gearbox adding to the challenge.

What Your Automatic Driving Lessons Will Cover
Choosing an automatic vehicle does not mean the curriculum is any less thorough. You will cover everything required for your DVSA practical test, taught in the same careful, step-by-step way used across all our courses.
Getting Started in the Car
Your first lesson begins with understanding the vehicle. Automatic cars handle differently from manual ones, so we cover the controls, pedal layout and how the gearbox responds before anything else.
Moving Off and Stopping Smoothly
Without a clutch to manage, smooth control in an automatic comes down to throttle and brake technique. We build good habits here from the very start.
Observations, Mirrors and Signals
Safe driving is about what you see as much as what you do. We teach correct mirror use, effective observations and clear signalling from your first lesson, so these become second nature quickly.
Junctions, Roundabouts and Crossroads
These are among the most commonly failed areas in a practical test. We work through each type of junction thoroughly, on quieter roads first and then progressively busier ones as your confidence grows.
Manoeuvres
All required DVSA manoeuvres are covered in your lessons, including bay parking, parallel parking and pulling up on the right. We practise each one until you can complete it calmly and correctly.
Dual Carriageways and Busier Roads
As your skills develop, we move onto faster and more demanding roads. This is an important part of your preparation, both for your test and for driving independently afterwards.
